Disposable One

Hey mom, look it’s me
It’s your son or daughter
Why can you not see
The pain in my eyes
And the sorrow in my heart
Because you have thrown me away
So many many times

All I asked for was respect and dignity
That you call me for more than money
And to preach your religion to me
But that was too much
And you have thrown me away
Told me to burn in hell
And away to run
Because I am the disposable one.

Hey spouse, look it’s me
It’s your wife or your husband
Why can you not see
The pain in my eyes
And the sorrow in my heart
Because you have thrown me away
So many many times

I lay alone in our bed
Even though you are by my side
No touch, no kiss
Not even just to hold me tight
You talk to your friends
All day and all night
But never time for only me
Leaving me all alone
Because I am the disposable one.

You may throw me away,
But I am more than you think
Even though I may be forgotten
May be discarded
It doesn’t mean I am the refuse
Just that you are the trash.

The Curtain Parts

Here I stand alone on a stage
I stare at the curtain
Soon all eyes will be upon me
But for the moment, alone I seem
Lost in thought and imaginings

They say the world is an oyster.
But I am the oyster
Ready to be torn apart by the world
Trying to take what is precious
Then they consume what is left

But this is a thing that must be done
My feelings need to be exposed
The darkness encircling
It must be shown

So let the curtain open
And let the people see
A story with joy and sorrow
With chaotic harmony

Let the lights dim
And the spotlight shine
The actor is ready
They have remembered their lines

So I invite you all stay
And experience the show
While sipping at your tea or coffee
You are seated in the front row
