Praying for Support

Behind me lies the Brambles that have been my life.
Vines reach out and wrap themselves around me, and try to pull me back.
Upon the vines are thorns, they stab and dig into me.
Trying to prevent me, from climbing up and out.

I have made it to the top again, upon a narrow ledge.
Looking over I see the land of fields, and streams, and trees.
I see the woodland animals running to and fro.
But before I can climb down, the vines must be removed.

I struggle here, as I remove the vines, as they grab and tear my skin.
Maybe it would be easier if I only fell back within.
The pain I feel as the vines release bring tears unto my eyes.
Alone I stand, upon this ledge, please gods send help this time.

Each person, comment, and memory.
Every abandonment and lie.
For the beatings taken, and cruel thing spoken.
The brambles drag me back down, inside.

I have climbed this hill a thousand times.
And fallen a thousand more.
I have struggled with all of this,
And oh so very much more.

If you read this, please take a moment,
Stand with me today,
Hold my hand, and help release the vines.
The pain is hard for me to say.

But I have climbed this hill a thousand times.
And this is one thousand and one.
Maybe this will be the time.
I can leave the vines behind.
